STATI GENERALI DEL TURISMO

The first national tourism conference (28-29 october 2022)

The first national tourism conference, promoted by former Minister for Tourism Massimo Garavaglia and organised in partnership with the city council of Chianciano Terme, was held on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 October, at the Parco Termale Acqua Santa at Chianciano Terme (SI).

The conference was the first step in the process of drawing up and adopting our Tourism Strategy Plan (PST) 2023-2027, which must then be formally adopted by the Government.

The two-day event’s programme included:

  • presentations by representatives of the most important international and national agencies and Italian organisations
  • the presentation of the draft version of the Tourism Strategy Plan and its five strategic pillars (sustainability, innovation, quality and inclusion, training and governance)
  • discussions about the various segments of the tourism industry
  • a summary of the strategic programming measures which will go into the final draft of the Strategy Plan

The event was organised in partnership with the Terme di Chianciano, ACI, ENIT, Trenitalia (official transport provider) and RCS (media partner), and with the organisational contribution of Federturismo Confindustria, Confturismo, Assoturismo Confesercenti, Federalberghi, Associazione italiana Confindustria Alberghi and Assohotel Confesercenti.

Aefi, with its 36 associates directly engaged in the issue, sponsored the event.

Maurizio Danese, President of Aefi (Associazione Esposizioni e Fiere Italiane): “Our system of exhibitions is not just a motor for industry and a driving force behind the Made in Italy brand worldwide, but is also a fundamental asset for business tourism. A recent study by Aefi-Prometeia has shown that the exhibitions industry, with its national and international events alone, has an impact on the territory – including services, transport, hospitality and employment – amounting to 22.5 billion euro a year.”

At the event, AEFI presented a video featuring an ideal love letter to our country, expressing the desire to encounter Italy that takes concrete form in the opportunities offered by exhibitions, decisive as they are to the promotion of the Made in Italy brand, and a major driver of the tourism industry in the widest sense.
