THE TRADE FAIR INTERNATIONALISATION PROJECT CONTINUES AEFI SIGNS A STRATEGIC AGREEMENT WITH TAIWAN

The second important agreement in the space of just a few weeks for the internationalisation of the Italian trade fair system: AEFI, the Italian Exhibition and Trade Fair Association, has signed an agreement with TECA, the Taiwan Exhibition and Convention Association, in the last few days. The signature was provided by Kitty Wong, TECA Vice President, and Pietro Piccinetti, AEFI Internationalisation Committee Coordinator, on behalf of Chairman Ettore Riello.

This is an important new step promoted by our Association in the process of internationalising the Italian trade fair sector,” commented Ettore Riello, Chairman of AEFI. “Trade between the European Union and Taiwan has increased by more than eight times over the last two decades and, seizing the opportunity offered by the country’s economic growth phase, we can pool both the specific experience of AEFI members in organising events dedicated to specific sectors and the growing interest of Taiwan in our country’s products, from consumer goods (furniture, fashion, jewellery, cosmetics, motor vehicles, cars, agricultural and food products) to machines and mechanical equipment with a specific function.

Internationalisation is now a proper, important and strategic choice and an opportunity that the trade fair sector cannot refuse, because it’s a fundamental driver in supporting the growth of Italian businesses in a constantly evolving international situation.

The aim of the agreement is to exchange information on the situation and development of the two economic systems, reciprocal communication of information and promotion of the respective exhibitions, organisation of missions, meetings and seminars to promote networking and making new contacts and carrying out studies and research on issues of mutual interest. The first step in the operation will be the meeting with a delegation from Taiwan this November.

Italy is an important trade partner for Taiwan in Europe. The MOU between TECA and AEFI can strengthen trade fair cooperation between our two countries” – said by Walter Yeh, President of TECA.

The agreement with the Taiwan Exhibition and Convention Association represents a further, important component in the project of internationalisation pursued by the AEFI, as well as a great opportunity for our exports in the country. In 2014 ltaly was Taiwan’s 23rd commercial partner, so the potential for future development is very wide-ranging and interesting” concludes Pietro Piccinetti, Coordinator of the AEFI Internationalisation Committee.

AEFI – the Italian Exhibition and Trade Fair Association – was set up in 1983 with a view to generating synergies between the most significant Italian exhibition districts. Specifically, AEFI would like to be seen as a privileged partner for operators and institutions alike, and its role is to support members through the development of activities and programmes in the sphere of training, marketing, promotion and research, as well as to provide services for trade fairs through the activities of its Committees: the Exhibition Hub Technical Committee, the Administrative-Legal Committee, the Trade Fairs Network Committee, the IT and Technical Innovation Committee, and the new Initiatives and Programmes Committee.
On an international scale, AEFI represents Italian trade fairs in UFI – Union of International Fairs. Chaired by Ettore Riello, AEFI includes 34 member exhibition districts, which organise over 1,000 events a year over an overall exhibition area of 4.2 million square metres. Most international trade fairs, and 85% of all trade fairs, which take place each year in Italy, are held in AEFI-member exhibition districts.
