Continuing collaboration between AEFI and FONDAZIONE TELETHON #AEFIperTelethon

AEFI – the Italian association of exhibition centres, with 36 affiliates whose events attract millions of visitors and exhibitors every year – has confirmed its attention to social issues by once more supporting the Fondazione Telethon campaign in favour of research into rare genetic illnesses.

The work of Fondazione Telethon has led to great progress in the development of therapies and effective advanced drugs, and AEFI intends to involve all its associates in promoting this activity with an opportunity to participate in a social initiative which is both critically important and widely supported. The agreement between AEFI and Telethon represents an opportunity to use trade fairs to promote research and contribute to growing solidarity throughout Italy.

The first event in the #AEFIperTelethon project starts today, Tuesday 22 October, at Cibus Tec, the leading international food technology exhibition, which will be at the Parma exhibition centre until 25 October, with more than 1,000 exhibitors and over 35,000 food&beverage trade professionals.

AEFI will actively promote collaboration and provide the opportunity for representatives of Telethon to participate at exhibitions held from late October to December this year, to present Fondazione Telethon’s scientific research activities with the obtained results and offer visitors the chance to become supporters and donors. The Association will also promote the campaign on its social channels (Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter).

The project will continue with numerous exhibitions and events hosting Fondazione Telethon and supporting its fund raising.

AEFI-Associazione Esposizioni e Fiere Italiane includes 36 member exhibition districts, which organise over 1,000 events a year over an overall exhibition area of 4.2 million square metres. Nearly all international and national trade fairs which take place each year in Italy are held in AEFI-member exhibition districts.
AEFI would also like to be seen as a privileged partner for operators and institutions alike, and its role is to support members through the development of activities and programmes in the sphere of training, marketing, promotion and research, as well as to provide services for trade fairs through the activities of its Committees: Exhibition Hub Technical Committee, Legal-Administrative Committee, Internationalisation Committee and Trade Fairs Network Committee.

On the internationalisation front, AEFI supports members thanks to agreements with strategic markets.

Fondazione Telethon

Fondazione Telethon is one of the major Italian biomedical charities, established in 1990 by a group of patients affected by muscular dystrophy. Its mission is to promote scientific research into cures for rare genetic illnesses, selected according to international best practices. It employs a method which is unique in Italy to support the entire “research chain” from fund raising to the selection and financing of projects, as well as running projects in its own research centres and laboratories. Since its establishment, it has invested over 528 million euro in research, financing over 2,630 projects with more than 1,600 research staff studying over 570 separate diseases.
