8 June 2016 will be the first Global Exhibitions Day, a great international initiative with recognition and relevance worldwide, and which AEFI – Italian Exhibition and Trade Fair Association has decided to celebrate with the “Meet Italian Excellence: Exhibitions  as a bridge for development” event, which will be held in Rome in the Hall of the Tempio di Adriano in the Chamber of Commerce, from 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.

Launched by the UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, at the start of 2016, and immediately supported by the main associations the world over, the Global Exhibitions Day aims to become a big annual event that brings together the entire global exhibition sector, not only to promote it, but above all to increase awareness of the value of exhibitions as a driving force for the economy of all countries. The Global Exhibitions Day also aims to celebrate the people who work in the sector, raising awareness of the career opportunities that the sector can offer.
More than 20 countries will be celebrating 8 June with a series of dedicated initiatives.

The event organised by AEFI will be an exceptional occasion to highlight, at an international level, excellence Made in Italy and a further opportunity to increase the awareness of Institutions of the importance of the sector, urging them of the need to support it, including through the resolutions of fundamental issues linked to legislation and tax.

The contributions of the speakers will underscore the value of the trade fairs for businesses, for leading in innovation and competitiveness, and the key role of exhibitions for developing trade and internationalisation.

After the address from AEFI President Ettore Riello and the “Good practices for growth” talk by Giulio Sapelli, Professor in Economic History at the University of Milan, work will continue with contributions from the Trade Fairs, which will illustrate how sectors where Italy is the undisputed leader in terms of the excellence that they represent can provide genuine leverage and a Bridge to the World.

Simonpaolo Buongiardino, Vice-President of CFT, Giuliana Ferrofino, President of CFI; Ettore Riello, President of AEFI and Giulio Sapelli, Professor in Economic History at the University of Milan, will host the cosign round table debate.

AEFI – the Italian Exhibition and Trade Fair Association – was set up in 1983 with a view to generating synergies between the most significant Italian exhibition districts. Specifically, AEFI would like to be seen as a privileged partner for operators and institutions alike, and its role is to support members through the development of activities and programmes in the sphere of training, marketing, promotion and research, as well as to provide services for trade fairs through the activities of its Committees: the Exhibition Hub Technical Committee, the Administrative-Legal Committee, the Trade Fairs Network Committee, the IT and Technical Innovation Committee, and the New Initiatives and Programmes Committee.
On an international scale, AEFI represents Italian trade fairs in UFI – Union of International Fairs. Chaired by Ettore Riello, AEFI includes 34 member exhibition districts, which organise over 1,000 events a year over an overall exhibition area of 4.2 million square metres. Most international trade fairs, and 85% of all trade fairs, which take place each year in Italy, are held in AEFI-member exhibition districts.
