SISTEMA FIERE (EXHIBITION SYSTEM) NEW BUSINESS MODELS TO START AGAIN AFTER THE CRISIS AND TAKE ON INTERNATIONAL CHALLENGES
The September meeting at the headquarters of Il Sole 24 represented for the Exhibition Sector a moment of assessment of the potentialities, of analysis of the current economic situation, of research of the stimulus to move forward in the development of the activities.
The topic of this year “The new business models to start again after the crisis and take on new international challenges” was discussed at a time when the enthusiasms resulting from the trend in exhibitions during the 1st semester clashed against the emergency of the markets and the conclusion of the parliamentary procedure for the new economic measures.
Starting the discussions, Ettore Riello – President of AEFI -, Gian Domenico Auricchio – President of CFI -, and Sergey Alexeev – Chapter Chairman UFI -, have highlighted the importance of Exhibitions in the current international framework, the role taken on to overcome the crisis, the need for innovation and coordination among the various players within the system.
The debate then concentrated on Exhibitions & Internationalisation: a strategic business for the Made in Italy, with interventions by Antonio Canzian – Appointed Coordinator for trade, exhibitions and markets of the Production Activities Commission of the Conferenza delle Regioni e delle Provincie Autonome (Conference of Autonomous Regions and Provinces) -, Filippo Ferrua Magliani – President of FEDERALIMENTARE -, Cleto Sagirpanti - President of ANCI -. During their interventions, the speakers highlighted on one side the strategic role of Exhibitions, and on the other the discomfort of the current situation, where the work carried out on the exhibition calendar, statistic data, and certification, has not been ratified, whilst ICE has been abolished without establishing an alternative, leaving many entities in difficulty.
These were followed by the experience of Italian organisers and exhibitions: Duccio Campagnoli - President of BolognaFiere -, Lorenzo Cagnoni – President of Rimini Fiera -, Roberto Ditri – President and Managing Director of Fiera di Vicenza -, Andrea Gruchow – Member of the Management Board Deutsche Messe AG -, Giovanni Laezza – Managing Director of Riva del Garda Fiercongressi -, Enrico Pazzali – Managing Director of Fiera Milano -, have tangibly demonstrated the irreplaceable role of Exhibitions in moving from local to global. It is more and more necessary to work in conjunction to re-launch export through exhibitions, and it is necessary that each party feels committed in developing innovative ideas.
On the topics of innovation and the richness and actuality of the production of the system, interventions from Franco Boni – President of Fiere Parma -, Guido Corbella – Managing Director of IPACK IMA -, Mauro Mannocchi - President of Fiera Roma -, Giada Michetti – Managing Director of GI Events Italia -, Nando Morra – President of Napoli Mostra d’Oltremare -, Raffaello Napoleone – Managing Director of Pitti Immagine -, Chris Nemchek - Senior Vice President Membership & Exhibitions NASFT, highlighted the many possible actions for creating new exhibition formats.
The conference was organised together by AEFI and CFI – Comitato Fiere Industria -.
This is the first evidence of a collaboration that goes beyond contingency: AEFI and CFI have undersigned an understanding for the creation of a sector federation.
After the experiment of the collaboration with CIF, the agreement will be expanded to other representations of the sector: the objective is to create an aggregate entity that will make us stronger in terms of association, so that there can be better institutional support, with the awareness of the importance of Exhibitions for the production system.
