Reed acquires 35 medical events
Norwalk, CT-based Reed Exhibitions has acquired Dublin, CA-based Contemporary Forums Inc., a leading producer of medical education events for nurses, physicians and other healthcare providers. The company will produce 35 events this year in 14 states serving more than 12,000 attendees. Dwight Stump and Margaret Blair, Co-founders of Contemporary Forums, will remain as President and Vice President. The shows will continue to be based in their Dublin, CA office. The acquisition is strategic for Reed, which has been working to grow its healthcare and life sciences events. Reed Medical Education, the healthcare unit of Reed Exhibitions North America, only had two events in 2004. Since then it has added Oncology World Congress and partners with other Reed entities to organize Supportive Oncology, Community Oncology and will launch Women’s Health Congress later this year. On a broader level, the Life Sciences and Healthcare Group at Reed Exhibitions has grown from two shows in 2004 to organizing 11 events this year. There are plans to launch a 12th event, PharmaMedDevice alongside INTERPHEX New York in 2007. Contact: Beth Blake, (203) 840-5451.
