Messe Friedrichsafen postpones U.S. Eurobike event
Germany-based Messe Friedrichsafen has indefinitely postponed its planned U.S. Eurobike counterpart. The event was expected to be held September 2007 in Portland, OR, but has been postponed due to delays in assembling a U.S. management team. Eurobike officials are continuing to pursue the U.S. trade show. Organizers of Eurobike announced plans to launch the event late last month. The trade show would directly compete with VNU Business Media’s Interbike. In the meantime, Eurobike has partnered with the Sea Otter Classic Festival, a bicycling event scheduled for April 2007 in Monterey, CA. Eurobike will actively support the event and contribute sporting event expertise. “Messe Friedrichhafen is committed to raising its profile in the United States,” says Eurobike CEO Klaus Wellmann. Eurobike 2006, held in Friedrichshafen Germany, covered 440,000 square feet and attracted 31,810 attendees from 76 countries. The next Eurobike event is scheduled for Aug. 30-Sept. 2, 2007, at the Messe Friedrichshafen convention center in Friedrichshafen. The facility features 10 halls with 753,475 square feet of space and a central 130,000 square-foot open-air site. The facility hosts between 15 and 17 international trade fairs and exhibitions a year, including the AERO, OutDoor, Eurobike, INTERBOOT and FAKUMA events.
