
Italy and China the strongest exhibiting countries at German trade fairs
Nr_11 Italy and China the strongest exhibiting countries at German trade fairs 27.06.2006 In Germany, international guests can expect a welcome not only during the FIFA World Cup Finals. Last year alone, the 141 international German trade fairs registered a share of foreign exhibitors of 53%, as recently established by AUMA – Association of the German Trade Fair Industry. These 84,000 companies not only represent the 32 World Cup nations, but also a further 156 countries. More than half of them come from Europe (62.8%); Asia takes second place with 24%, ahead of North America with 6.4%, Latin America with 2.7 %, Africa with 1.8% and the Middle East with 1.6%. Australia/Oceania is represented with 0.7%. In total, 158,060 exhibitors from Germany and abroad were present. Italy takes the lead at German trade fairs with around 11,200 exhibitors, followed by China with over 6,800, Great Britain with over 5,100 exhibitors. The USA is represented with 4,600 exhibitors, France with 4,500, the Netherlands with 4,300, Spain with 4,100, Austria and Switzerland each with around 3,300 exhibitors. The strongest exhibitor from Central and Eastern Europe is Poland with over 1,500 exhibitors, ahead of the Czech Republic and Russia (each 1,100) and Hungary with around 500 exhibitors. Besides the PR China, Asia is represented, in particular, by exhibitors from Taiwan (3,500), India (2,050), South Korea (1,200) and Thailand (1,100), 800 exhibitors came from Japan. Among the Latin American exhibitors at German trade fairs, Brazil leads by a long way: 830 companies took part at 60 trade fairs.
