Important advice from IMEX and AEO (Association of Exhibition Organisers) about a misleading form from Fair Guide/Construct Data Verlag

You may recently have received a misleading form from Fair Guide/Construct Data Verlag, inviting you to sign and return the form for entry into an online directory. Doing so will contract you into a three year, non retractable agreement costing several thousand Euros. Fair Guide/Construct Data Verlag is an Austrian-based organisation that the AEO has been campaigning against for some time. The Austrian government have started legal action against Construct Data Verlag to prevent them from distributing further misleading forms or from collecting payment. The advice is therefore not to complete and return the form, however if you have already done so, the Austrian government recommends that you withdraw from the contract with Fair Guide/Construct Data Verlag due to error and ignore requests for payment. They have provided a standard letter, based on Austrian civil law, which you can use to reply to Fair Guide/Construct Data Verlag.
