IAEM announces name change at annual meeting

The International Association for Exhibition Management (IAEM) has announced its name change to the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), which was approved during the association’s annual meeting held Nov. 28-Dec. 1 in San Diego. “The change of name only reflects the fact that the exhibition industry continues to evolve healthfully,” says Steven Hacker, IAEE President. “The name change signals our intent to continue to lead the industry into exciting areas of opportunity.” The name change is one of IAEE’s new strategic initiatives. IAEE will focus on education and networking programs, establishing a position as the principal trade association for the exhibition industry, and developing an overall stronger organization. This includes industry advocacy campaigns, developing a more aggressive public relations campaign and providing industry research through the Center for Exhibition Industry Research. IAEE also announced that the third edition of “The Art of the Show,” a 532-page, paperback textbook will be available for purchase on Dec. 15. The textbook has been revised to reflect the changing business climate, including technology enhancements, globalization and environmentally friendly events. The book is divided into seven sections with 34 chapters. Contents include an overview of the exhibition industry, the business aspects of exhibition development and management, site selection, planning and management, contractors and on-site operations. The textbook is sponsored by the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, The Freeman Cos. and GES Exposition Services. The book can be ordered for $109.95 online at www.tradeshowstore.com or via phone at (972) 687-9225. IAEE members, universities and students may purchase the textbook for $49.95. IAEE, an association for the exhibition and event industry, represents organizers of more than 20,000 exhibitions. Contact: Mary Tucker, IAEE, (973) 687-9226.
