Hall capacity of German trade fair centres almost constant
Nr_10 Hall capacity of German trade fair centres almost constant 27.06.2006 The hall capacity of the German trade fair centres with international and national importance amounted to 2,675,000 m² on 1st January 2006, 0.8 % more than one year earlier. That was revealed by a survey conducted by AUMA – Association of the German Trade Fair Industry in spring 2006. Included in the survey were 24 trade fair centres, at which at least one trade fair took place which was classified by AUMA as national or international. The capacity development was thus a little below the average for the last five years. In 2005, a total of around 550 mill. Euro was invested, primarily in the replacement of older halls, in renovation and in capacity extensions which will be put into use in the next few years. By the end of 2009, the hall capacities will grow by 86,000 m² to 2.76 mill. m², that is a total of 3.2 % more and corresponds to an annual growth rate of 0.8%. Projects will be completed with an investment volume of 1.3 bill. Euro, in other words around 325 mill. Euro per year. The funds will flow to a large extent into basic renovation of existing buildings, into the improvement of service, technology and logistics, but also into targeted capacity extensions.
