Description
Description
Fiere di Parma enjoys a privileged position among Italian fairs. The Fair Centre lies at the heart of central northern Italy, tucked inside the most thriving economic area, near the major production centres: just a few minutes away from Reggio nell'Emilia, Piacenza and Modena, less than an hour from Bologna and Milan, and an hour or so from Verona, Brescia, Genoa and Florence. A position counting a potential user basin of over 4 million people, well connected by an excellent road, railway and airport system serving the city. The Fair Centre is one of the major facilities on the international scene for the quality of its design and standards of its services. It spreads over an area of approximately 300,000 m2, 100,000 m2 of which roofed exhibition area. Split up into seven pavilions, and equipped with leading-edge multimedia technologies, the complex has been designed on avant-garde concepts, with every care taken down to the minimum detail, and often plays host to events of international stature. A vocation further amplified by the construction of the multifunctional centre, Teatro Padiglione Palacassa: over 17 000 m2 hosting a main hall, equipped to accommodate from 4,000 to 7,000 people, and by a stage 24 m deep and up to 48 m wide. As one with the fairgrounds, the Palacassa is a perfect blend able to acknowledge the functional requirements of congresses, exhibitions, shows and TV and film locations. Adding a positive touch to the Fair, the many partnerships Fiere di Parma has struck with the leading incoming companies and institutions, guaranteeing remarkable hospitality standards and service quality. An attention attached not only to the reception afforded by the Fair, but also to the creation of appropriate tourist trails capable of enhancing the local historical, artistic and cuisine heritage. The attractions offered by the Parma area include the Food Museums, tuned to the current taste trails trend, representing a new tourist product that fits perfectly in the traditional offers.
Places to go
Places to go
“Golden city”, “ducal” and “food capital” are just some of the nicknames given to the Parma everyone remembers for Marie Louise of Austria, Stendhal’s Charterhouse, Verdi or Toscanini and, last but not least, the good food. A place that keeps the memory of its past alive, in its aesthetics, and also in its natural elegance, décor, friendliness and culture. Duomo The Romanesque cathedral built in the second half of the XI century. The majestic gabled façade is enhanced by three rows of loggias, with the Gothic bell tower standing on the right hand side. The Latin-crossed interior is impressive for the scores of frescoes covering the vaults and walls.
Baptistery Aside the cathedral stands this fine example of transition from Romanesque to Gothic style, built by using pink and white marble blocks and designed by Benedetto Antelami. The solid octagonal complex is a synthesis of Medieval iconographic culture.
Palazzo della Pillotta Cultural centre hosting the National Museum of Archaeology, the famous National Gallery and the extraordinary Teatro Farnese.
